Is Your Beer Being Served the Way You Intended?

THE PINT CHECK

A focused evaluation of exactly how your beer is being served at the account level.

You're investing in accounts. But do you know what's actually happening at the bar?

You've put serious money into your accounts. You're running server incentive programs, pushing features, running contests, and training staff on your brand. The question nobody can answer is whether any of it is working.

Your sales rep visits during the day. They talk to the manager, check the tap handles, and move on. Nobody is sitting at that bar at 8pm on a Friday night ordering your beer and seeing what actually happens.

That's exactly what we do.

What The Pint Check Covers

We walk in as a regular guest, sit at the bar, and order a pint. From that moment, we're evaluating everything about how your beer is handled and presented. 20+ checks across every visit, covering:

  • Server recommendation — was your beer suggested unprompted, and if so, how was it presented
  • Contest and incentive compliance — did the server mention the promotion or feature you're running
  • Glassware — correct branded glass, cleanliness, proper temperature
  • The pour — technique, head retention, presentation
  • Served temperature — measured with a thermometer, not estimated
  • Off-flavour detectionour shoppers are trained to identify issues like past-code beer, dirty lines, and incorrect gas blends that affect the quality of your pint at the tap

What You Get Back

Image

A detailed report on exactly how your beer was served that day, scored and documented. If there's a problem at the account level, you'll know about it — and you'll have the documentation to back it up when you bring it to the account.

Run shops across multiple accounts and you'll quickly see where your brand is being represented well and where it isn't.

Who It's For
The Pint Check is built for breweries that want direct visibility into what's happening at their accounts. Whether you're running a server incentive program, trying to move volume on a feature, or simply want to know if your beer is being served the way it should be, this is the shop for you.

Built Around Your Business

Every Pint Check starts with our base evaluation, but we can tailor it to your specific needs. Want us to check for a particular contest or promotion? Order a specific SKU? Visit accounts in a particular region during a set window? We work around your program, not the other way around.

Simple Clear Pricing

We believe in transparent pricing.
It's frustrating when companies conceal their pricing and require a 60-minute demo to reveal it.  Shops can be purchased individually or in bulk and are valid for 1 year.

Why Pint Insights Exists

Image

I've stood where your staff stands. I know what actually happens.

I spent 12 years in the restaurant business — starting in the kitchen and working my way through every position until I became a GM at 26, leading a team of over 100 people at one of the top-performing locations in a chain of 20 restaurants.

It was in that role that I first lost faith in mystery shopping. Reports would come back quoting menu items we didn't sell and calling out servers who weren't even working that night. The people doing the shops clearly had no idea what they were looking at. I stopped trusting the reports entirely.

After restaurants, I spent five years teaching hospitality at George Brown College. In 2005, I started a draught service company, where in addition to draught system maintenance and repairs, I offered staff training as a service. I've trained thousands of bar staff on upselling and draught quality and I've been working exclusively in the draught beer industry ever since.

In 2019, several of our Better Beer clients came to us frustrated. They were using a mystery shopping company, the shops were cheap, and the reports were unreliable. Sound familiar? They asked if we could do something better. We did, and the response was overwhelming. So we built Pint Insights to make it available to everyone.

This isn't a side project. It's built on 30 years of being in and around this industry, and a genuine belief that beer deserves better.
